Weatherside cladding

Postby ian.macrae » Mon May 22, 2017 6:50 pm

Hello Albrecht,

I am using the Construction R-Value Calculator to determine wall insulation, but cannot find the product: Weatherside exterior cladding (NZ Forest Products). I know this cladding was removed from sale in the 1980's due to its poor performance. Our house is partially clad with it and it remains in good condition. Can you please tell me what similar product I could use in the calculator. The Weatherside plank is 10mm thick by 450mm wide and is compressed fibrous wood with a resin/oil.

Any information would be gratefully received.

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian,

NZS4214:2006 suggests that high density particle boards have a conductivity of 0.14W/°Cm. That means that a 10mm sheet would have an R-value of about 0.01/0.14 = 0.07m²°C/W.

I hope that helps.

Sunny regards

Albrecht
